The Temple of Amun is an archaeological site at Jebel Barkal in Northern State, Sudan. It is situated about 400 kilometres (250 mi) north of Khartoum near Karima. The temple stands near a large bend of the Nile River, in the region that was called Nubia in ancient times. The Temple of Amun, one of the largest temples at Jebel Barkal, is considered sacred to the local population. Not only was the Amun temple a main centre of what at one time was considered to be an almost universal religion, but, along with the other archaeological sites at Jebel Barkal, it was representative of the revival of Egyptian religious values. Up to the middle of the 19th century, the temple was subjected to vandalism, destruction, and indiscriminate plundering, before it came under state protection.

So, Time to see the Temple of the Oracle of Amun, our tour guide will let you enjoy the history about the temple.

* Salt Lakes:
This is an amazing visit during your tour, enjoy the feeling of floating at the salt lakes of Siwa, we provide mineral water to take shower after swimming at the lake.

There are four main major salt lakes in Siwa. Zeitoun, which is the largest of them all spans across an area of 5760 acres. The scene of Zeitoun is mesmerizing as the body of water lines the eastern edge of the Siwan landscape. Aghormy Lake in the north-east spanning an area of 960 acres located between Zeitoun and Maraqi lakes is often used by local companies for health tourism as it is considered to be very healing and revitalizes the body. Maraqi Lake located in the western part of Siwa is also one of the larger lakes with an area of 700 acres. It is known also as Fatnas Lake and has the highest salt concentration of all the lakes. There are many other smaller lakes scattered all across Siwa.

* Cleopatra’s Pool – Spring of Juba:
Enjoy swimming and have natural juice as Cleopatra Spring in Siwa Oasis Cleopatra Spring is a natural water spring, fed naturally by the underground water and is considered the best-known water spring in the area, there is a belief that Queen Cleopatra took a shower in these waters accompanied by a landscape surrounded by palm trees and sand.

Local girls of Siwa used to bathe in this place before the wedding believing they will become as pretty as queen Cleopatra since she is known to have visited the well historically leaving her name to be mentioned whenever people talk about the best bubbling water spring in the western desert.

Ain Guba Following the trail that leads to the Oracle Temple and continuing beyond the Umm Ubayd Temple will take you to the most famous spring in Siwa Oasis. Crystal clear water gurgles in a large stone pool, which is a popular bathing place for both locals and tourists. A couple of lovely coffee shops have comfortable shaded seating areas and serve refreshments and delicious snacks; Bring your own picnic if you want to hang out. One of Siwa’s most famous tourist attractions is a stone bath full of natural hot springs, and some claim that it is named after the famous queen Cleopatra who took a dip here during her visit to Siwa. Take advantage of this offer and discover the wonders of the blessed land of Egypt, from historical times to the present.

* Shali fortress:
It is time to visit Old Shali fortress of Siwa as Central Siwa is dominated by the spectacular organic shapes of the remains of this 13th-century mud-brick fortress. Built from kershef (chunks of salt from the lake just outside town, mixed with rock and plastered in local clay), the labyrinth of huddled buildings was originally four or five storeys high and housed hundreds of people. A path leads over the slumping remnants, past the Old Mosque with its chimney-shaped minaret, to the top for panoramic views.

For centuries, few outsiders were admitted inside the fortress – and even fewer came back out to tell the tale. But three days of rain in 1926 caused more damage than any invader had managed and, over the last decades, inhabitants moved to newer and more comfortable houses with running water and electricity. Now only a few buildings around the edges are occupied or used for storage. A pathway from the central square leads to the top for great views over the oasis. Several foreigners and Egyptians are doing up houses in the old town; some are available for overnight stays.
